— Maintenance —
Life Safety System routine monitoring/maintenance is essential to ensure continued safe operation of potentially hazardous toxic and flammable gas installations. Toxic gas detection sensors and safety shut down valves must also be routinely tested and maintained to ensure that the systems continue to function as per their design and provide a safe environment for plant and laboratory users. Umech bases its testing schedules on AS 61508 (Functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems) to ensure proper routine monitoring is completed. External testing by Umech ensures gas delivery systems are functioning correctly and issues are documented and reported for prompt resolution.
Umech has invested in a custom built asset management system for the 1100+ gas sensors that we currently manage. This asset management software allows for barcode scanning and full service history recording of any asset. This software aids in fault detection, preventative maintenance and traceability.
